No reference materials are available for this pre-session course This course provides a focused update of the diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic approach to the patient at risk for or with known cardiovascular disease. A faculty of expert clinician-educators will focus on the cardiovascular disease issues that internists are mostly frequently faced with. Subjects covered include identification and management of acute coronary syndrome, prevention and treatment of chronic coronary artery disease, optimal treatment of congestive heart failure, risk assessment and risk reduction for the patient with cardiac disease who undergoes noncardiac surgery, update presentation of the new American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association valvular heart disease guidelines, atrial fibrillation rate control versus rhythm control, the adult with congenital heart disease, and vascular disease basics for the internist.
