From Jazz to Medicine: Exploring Improvisation in Clinical Practice

Clinical questions to be addressed:

  1. Explore how they, as physicians, can "tune-in" to their ability to improvise and improve their ability to react to new patient situations and events. This will include specific examples of patient interactions and problems that may require "quick thinking
  2. Reflect on their own style of communication (a.k.a. their "voice") and explore how to use "voice" to enhance authenticity with patients.
  3. Apply the concept of ensemble to improve communication dynamics during the medical interview.
  4. Reinvigorate a desire to practice by connecting with their own creativity.
