Clinical questions to be addressed: This session will update our members on the state of the HIV/AIDS epidemic worldwide, the devastating consequences to the struggling democracies in the resource-restricted regions in the world and its impact on life expectance, gross domestic product, and stability. It will also show the potential light at the end of the tunnel: prevention and risk reduction programs work, introducing antiretroviral drugs while building infrastructure and human capacity through training, efficient drug delivery systems, and effective monitoring and evaluation systems that can put people back to work, prevent orphans, and deliver hope for the future. ACP members can help through volunteerism and getting involved in this, the most catastrophic epidemic in history.
